Hey how did you get to my itch crossword page? Is it from a video? I can't contact you by anyway, this is the only way. If it come from a video all I want is the link to the video, I want to watch it. please.
Ha! Glad to hear you liked it. I did make a mobile version but it's the exact same set of levels. I am thinking of next steps for this game but I'm not yet certain what they will be. I would love to expand the concept to a more "complete" game that I could release on Steam as well. I'll keep people posted on itch.
so far, I’m on level 2 and the mechanics are great! I’m a huge Sudoku junkie and now I’m finally understanding how minesweeper works a bit from this game!
Fun game, ended up playing it all the way through after taking some breaks. A few items of feedback: 1. Sometimes right clicking would place my X and then immediately remove it. It seems the input may be firing twice? 2. Even if you mark a spot as X, you can still click on it like normal.
3. It'd be nice to be able to hover over a building and see what tiles are in its scope. When first starting a new zone it can take a bit to process which pieces are buildings or fields. Sometimes I might also not realize that a building is lined up with a far-off island 4. The RNG creates wildly unequal puzzles. Sometimes I'll lose on a harder one and then it gives me a zero-difficulty puzzle. On Final Lands puzzle 15 the first one it generated was trivial, so it was kinda anticlimactic
With Sudoku there's somewhat of an agreed tier list of techniques. A harder puzzle will usually require more/harder techniques to solve, but yeah it varies a lot and it's hard to make good difficulty algorithmic.
Not important, but since the levels are random, a button to reset progress would be great. I know we can play-through anyway (I'm on my second playthrough), but maybe a tally at the end of how many lives lost so we can try for personal best or a perfect run?
Was having so much fun. But just came back and my progress is lost! Would love to finish but not interested in re-doing the first half of the game again. Any chance that the progress can be restored?
Hey, I'm really sorry about this. I accidentally picked a way of saving progression that doesn't persist after updates on itch. The save is lost no matter what i do for the next update.
I will look into a fix for future version and a way of skipping worlds to avoid replaying previously solved levels.
This is really great! As someone with a not so good memory, I agree that there could be some sort of marking system so you can check where you've already determined there can't be anything though. Nevertheless, a great game!
A few notes: I noticed that in the later levels, the UI was obscuring some of the play field at the top. I also started getting confused between worlds when the elements would change appearance - Maybe the numbers could be color coded to stay consistent? The addition of flagging the landslides could also help some of the frustration; I noticed I was getting lazy towards the end because I didn't want to keep all the clues in my head. Other than that, this really scratched that "variety minesweeper" itch!
Could not find any credits ingame, did you make everything yourself? That's really impressive!
Hard to say if this concept has been done before but you executed really well on it. The levels are fun and the random generation when you run out of hearts works perfectly.
Overall a really polished puzzle game which is a lot of fun. The artstyle is clear and the calm guitar music fits the game like a glove. I played up to the Greenlands so far.

How do you mark an empty tile on a phone?
You can't unfortunately. I'm planning on making an Android version soon, I'll add a toggle between buildings and crosses then. Hope you still like it!

You mean Crossword Beyond? https://youtu.be/vr7LnMD7wk8?si=haWVDIAx6N6kamoS&t=697
I really enjoyed this game. It would be fun as a mobile game, too. Are you thinking of making one?
Let me rephrase that. Can you please make one or at least a sequel or something? I need more of this ^_^

Very interested to see where you take it
Very interesting suggestions. Thanks for the feedback!
The rng one is challenging because the generator is tuned for solvability and the difficulty is incidental. I'll have to think about that one.

Yay

soooooo fun one of my fav's
Really needs some kind of marking system but other than that its so fun and cute!

This was a pretty good time!

Thanks for the kind words and glad you like it!
The music is by a composer called William King but everything else is made by me.
